In this policy, "we", "us" and "our" mean The Corner Store Mt Gambier (ABN: 85 909 212 468).

We handle personal information in line with the Australian Privacy Principles in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).

2What we collect

• Contact details: name, mobile, email, residential and mailing address.
• Identity: a copy of your photo ID when you sign up for storage.
• Your alternate contact person: their name and phone number, which you give us with their permission.
• Account details: your storage agreement, shed, payments, arrears and notices.
• Communications: messages you send us by SMS, email or our website forms, and our replies.
• Facility records: gate access records and, where installed, security camera footage.
• Website data: your IP address and basic technical information, used for security and to stop spam.

We do not store full card numbers. Card payments are handled by our payment provider.

3How we collect it

Mostly directly from you: when you book or sign up online, contact us, sign your storage agreement, pay, or use our facilities. Sometimes we collect it from your alternate contact person, a debt collector, or public sources when we need to reach you about your account.

4Why we use it

• to respond to enquiries and set up and manage your storage agreement;
• to verify your identity and prevent fraud;
• to process payments and send receipts;
• to send account messages, reminders and formal notices by SMS, email and post;
• to recover unpaid amounts and enforce your storage agreement, including dealing with goods left at the facility;
• to keep our facilities, customers and staff safe;
• to meet our legal obligations.

We will not use your details for unrelated marketing without your consent, and you can opt out of any marketing at any time.

5Who we share it with

We only share what is needed with:

• our storage management and booking software provider (UnitTRAC);
• our SMS and email providers (Twilio and SendGrid);
• our payment provider and bank;
• our website host and security services;
• your alternate contact person, if we cannot reach you or your account is in default;
• debt collectors, lawyers and courts, if money is owed;
• police and government agencies, when the law requires or allows it.

6Overseas storage

Some of our service providers store or process information outside Australia, mainly in the United States (for example our SMS and email providers). We take reasonable steps to make sure they protect your information to a standard consistent with the Australian Privacy Principles.

7How we protect it

Your information is kept in secure systems with restricted, password-protected access. Photo ID and documents are stored outside the public website. Access to our staff SMS system is restricted to approved locations and protected by one-time codes.

We keep information while you are a customer and for up to 7 years afterwards for tax, legal and dispute purposes, then securely destroy or de-identify it. Photo ID copies are deleted once they are no longer needed.

8Accessing or correcting your information

You can ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, or ask us to correct it. Contact us using the details below. We will respond within 30 days. We may need to confirm your identity first.

Please tell us within 48 hours if your address, mobile or email changes, as we rely on these details to send you notices.

9Complaints
